Seven killed, 11 injured in jeep accident in Nepal

At least seven people were killed and 11 others injured today when an overcrowded jeep fell from the road in Nepal's Kavrepalanchok area.

KATHMANDU: At least seven people were killed and 11 others injured today when an overcrowded jeep fell from the road in Nepal's Kavrepalanchok area, police said.

The jeep, ferrying 17 people, was heading towards Dandapari from Banepa, 60 km east of Kathmandu, when the accident occurred this morning in Shikhar Ambote, said Sahakul Thapa, Superintendent of Police, Kavre District Police Office.

The jeep driver is also among the dead, he said. Police said that a critically injured eight-year-old boy has been flown to Kathmandu for treatment. The cause of the accident is not known yet.
