YEREVAN: Armenia's parliament will convene for an extraordinary session on May 8 to elect a prime minister, the parliament speaker said Wednesday, after a previous attempt failed, plunging the country into uncertainty.

"On May 8... the Armenian parliament will begin discussing the question of the election of a new prime minister," Ara Babloyan said in a statement.
