BANGALORE: The Dodda Ganapathi Temple premises at Basavanagudi was packed. Prominent personalities of Sandalwood and well-wishers of director Om Prakash Rao were thronging the place. While Rao was kept busy, receiving bouquets from well-wishers, hundreds of youth were eagerly waiting to get a glimpse of Challenging Star Darshan. The occasion was the muhurat function of

Rao’s 25th film, AK56. Darshan sounded the clap board on Siddhanth and Nikitha.

Shivarjkumar was to switch on the camera but did not turn up. Rao directed Darshan’s film Kalasipalya and Shivarajkumar’s film AK47. Both the films did well at the box office and brought fame for both the heroes.

Now, Rao is set to come out with another big-budget film, AK56. He directed the film AK47 in 1999. He had roped in Om Puri, Ashish Vidyarthi and Girish Karnad to act in AK47. Now, he has roped in Atul Kulkarni to play a key role in AK56 while Siddhanth, who acted in the film Minchu, is the hero. “I give importance to the script. I selected Siddhanth because I believe that

he can do justice to the lead role,” Rao said.

Its shooting will be held in Belgaum from Tuesday for a few days. “We are  planning to shoot a chasing scene on Tumkur Road next month. Twenty Bullet Motorcycles and 100 four-wheelers will be used for the chasing sequence,” explained Rao.

What motivated Rao to direct AK56? “The concept of the script is based on a real life incident that took place in Punjab 20 years back. Many youth took up guns in a particular region in Punjab. I want to make this film an entertainer not only for both the mass and the class. I will ensure all ingredients that are musts to bring every kind of audience to the theatres,” Rao said confidently.

Dialogue writer-cum-director MS Ramesh has been assigned to write punchy dialogues while Abhiman Roy will compose music for this action-oriented film. Sumalatha Ambareesh, Sharath Babu, Jai Jagadeesh and Kote Prabhakar are the other important cast in this film.
