A bright new start

Navamy Sudhish

M Mukundan, writer

The tail end of 2012 has left a lingering bitterness in my mind, rousing the pessimist in me one more time. I know the Delhi savagery will slowly fade into oblivion, just like Soumya. I want 2013 to be a time when no woman would be hurt or harmed and that’s my only dream about the new year. I will be starting my new novel very soon and I hope it keeps me engaged in the coming days.

Shweta Menon, actor

I am looking forward to wonderful 2013 with lots of good things coming up in both personal and professional fronts. I am planning to relish every moment of motherhood and waiting for some fantastic projects to work. I think Blessy’s ‘Kalimannu’ will be a great beginning for this year. I am also going to have heaps of romance with my husband and may be I can go on my long-pending honeymoon this year.

Rex Vijayan, musician

I have never approached music with an academic mindset and I am a little weak when it comes to the theoretical part. In the new year I plan to pick up all that lessons including the latest. I also want to be more organised and practise my instruments regularly. I have collected a string of indigenous instruments like oudh and ukulele and I want to try my hands at playing them all.

Neena Prasad, dancer

Last year was not a great one for me as I had to leave a couple of projects half way. I couldn’t stick on to the initial pace and I should admit that I was a little laid-back too. I plan to fix up all that and complete my works within a particular time frame. In 2013 two of my dream projects will be out - my major dance production ‘Pathnee’ and my book. I am eagerly looking forward to both.

Lal Jose, filmmaker

My one and only New Year resolution is to make good films. My next project ‘Emmanuel’ gets going on January 2 and thus I can start 2013 on an exciting note. I don’t believe in planning and like to live life as it comes, so there is no concrete and elaborate plans as such. I just wish to stay healthy throughout the year and want the audience to accept my films.

Riyas Komu, artist

As we enter 2013 what I see is people around me accepting and celebrating art, which is an exhilarating experience for me. The enormous success of Biennale will help me start my new year on a sweet note. I have been busy organising the shows for quite some time and the first thing I want to do in the new year is to get back to my work.
