GUNTUR: The three-day VVIT-Balotsav-2017, the first International Telugu Children’s Festival began amidst much fanfare at Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology at Namburu on Sunday. The festival will conclude on November 14.  

Nearly, 10,000 children from 610 schools are attending the festival and VVIT has made all arrangements for the contestants and their mentors. Competitions in painting, folk music, classical dance, elocution and general quiz were held for children in sub-junior, junior and senior categories.

Acharya Nagarjuna University Prof A Rajendra Prasad inaugurated the Balotsav and appreciated VVIT chairman Vasireddy Vidya Sagar for organising the event on a grand scale.

He also appreciated convener Vasireddy Ramesh for mooting the idea and conducting the festival since 1991 in Kothagudem of Telangana State.

APSRTC MD M Malakondaiah said Balotsav will provide a platform to children to showcase their skills. APSSDC CEO K Sambasiva Rao expressed happiness over seeing such a huge gathering of students at one place.
