BENGALURU: It is not always qualifications or experience that lands one a good job or a greater position in an organisation. Beyond that, the employers look for a good mix of skills. The group Skill Quest helps you learn new skills from the experienced.

It was created in March this year by Navaneetha MS with an aim to teach skills to the members to progress in their career or pursue their passions. It connects the working professionals from the industry and the learners. The group organises meetups regularly to catch up with the professionals and learn a skill.
Prathish Aswath, the organiser says, “The motto of the group is to connect the learners with the working professionals and understand how the industry actually works. People usually spend lakhs of rupees for their training at various institutes which may not come in handy when they join the industry.”

According to him, there are three kinds of potential learners - a job seeker who just graduated, an employee wants a skill upgradation for career growth and finally, the people who want to pursue their passions like music or dancing but do not know whom to approach for a training.
There are 91 members in the group with a mix of trainers and learners, who are in their 20s and 30s. Prathish says, “The most of the learners are job seekers. There is a good amount of people who want to pursue their passion too.”

The group has a website skillquest.in where one can register and look for the trainers in their respective fields. There are about 150 trainers on board.
At every meet up, a theme is set and the learners are intimated about it. The group is organising a meet up Urban Dance Club this Sunday at V R Bengaluru, Whitefield.
