BENGALURU: The Police Inspector of Konanakunte police station and a head constable were arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials for accepting a bribe of `25,000 on Monday.


The arrested are L Srinivas, the inspector, and Venkatesh, the head constable and the station writer.
According to ACB officials, a cheque theft was registered in Konanakunte police station recently.

In connection with the case, a relative of the accused person had approached Srinivas and Venkatesh requesting them to drop his relative’s name from the case. For this, the police officials allegedly demanded `25,000.


“Not willing to pay a bribe, the relative filed a complaint with the ACB Bengaluru City police station against the two police officials. Based on the complaint, a trap was laid on Monday. The head constable accepted a bribe of `25,000 on behalf of the inspector from the complainant. The duo was arrested and further investigations are on,” an ACB official said.
