BENGALURU: Alleging that the state government has not yet handed over the case of suspicious death of Paresh Mesta in Uttara Kannada district to any central agency, Union Minister Ananth Kumar has demanded a probe by National Investigation Agency into the case.

“The state has played a drama by saying that they have handed over Paresh Mesta case to the CBI. No notification has been issued in this regard. Therefore, I urge Union Minister Rajnath Singh to ensure that NIA probes the murder,” he said. The mysterious death of Mesta had recently led to communal disturbances in several parts of Uttara Kannada district, forcing the police to clamp prohibitory orders.  Ananth Kumar also said BJP will win 25 of the 28 Assembly seats in Bengaluru, while exceeding over 150 out of the 225 seats in the state.

In a scathing attack on K R Puram MLA B A Basavaraj, Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda alleged that the 81 murders reported in the Assembly constituency occurred under the leadership of the MLA. Gowda, who did not name the MLA, said he was the kingpin of the real estate mafia.At the Parivarthana Yatra, Sadananda Gowda said the situation in the constituency had worsened since the election of Basavaraj as MLA. He said the city had seen the worst administration since independence and lacked even basic amenities.
