112 trees to be translocated, says George

BENGALURU: Development Minister K J George, BBMP Commissioner Manjunatha Prasad, Mayor Padmavathy and other officials inspected the translocation of trees on Jayamahal Road on Friday. The decision to chop 112 trees for widening of the road had caused a huge public outcry.

Speaking at the site, George said Objections for the project had been called for. A decision was subsequently taken to translocate the 112 trees. They would be translocated beside the footpath along the compound of Palace Grounds.George added that for every tree transplanted, the BBMP would plant a two 10-feet high saplings. Seven trees have already been translocated.
