CHENNAI: The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), in its effort to facilitate shipping solutions to the Indian trade, has now upgraded the coastal port call on its ‘Smile Service’.
Having started with Mundra to Cochin and Tuticorin, SCI is now calling Pipavav and JNPT on her south bound leg. The revised coastal rotation is Mundra-Pipavav-JNPT-Cochin-Tuticorin and the voyage will end at Colombo.
The SCI realizes the need in providing option and advantage to the Indian exporters and importers to move their cargoes on the various trade lanes. This upgradation on the coastal segment gives the Indian trader a better option to ship their cargoes by sea route.
Carriage of cargoes by sea gives the trader considerable advantage both in terms of efficiency and security when compared to land transport.
