CHENNAI: The three-day Taitronics India exhibition held at the Chennai Trade Centre here from September 11 gave an opportunity to the Indian business community to expand their horizon in trade relations with Taiwan, besides finding new opportunities in unexplored areas of emerging technology.

The focus areas at the expo included consumer electronics, electric components, security and safety products, hardware, hand tools, die and moulds, auto and motorcyclerelated vehicles parts, photovoltaic products, rubber products, to name a few.

The Taipei International Electronics Show (Taitronics), which was held in conjunction with CII Connect 2009, also explored the trends and opportunities in the ICT sector, besides creating a platform for the IT industry to formulate its future agenda.

The expo, organised by Taipei World Centre Company (TWTC), also acted as the B2B platform for the local firms that wanted to establish trade links with Taiwanese companies.

Among the 180 exhibitors in the expo, as many as 20 listed companies, including Avision Inc, Kung Long Battery, Wellypower, China Motor, League Alloy, Kang Na Hsiung, showcased their products along with firms like Minimax, KSS, Lioho Machine, AFTA Tech, Philips and Lite-on Digital to underscore the value of Taiwan brand to India.

In order to promote Taiwanese products and to seek more business opportunities to nearby countries in Asia, TWTC first set foot in India holding the Taitronics India show in 2007.

Apart from electronics and ICT industries, Taiwan’s machinery and automobiles have also gained world claim for innovation and quality if one were to go by the Global Competitiveness Report 2008-09, which said, “At the 2008 iF design awards, Taiwanese manufacturers achieved outstanding results by winning 99 awards in categories for products, packing and visual design which far exceeded the 56 awards in 2007 - a growth rate of 77 per cent.”
