NEW DELHI: The government-owned Water and Power Consultancy Services (Wapcos) will get "mini ratna" status next week on the back of its robust financial performance and forays into new regions.

Minister of Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal will confer mini ratna category-I status on Wapcos Ltd Dec 6 for its outstanding performance, an official statement said Wednesday.

The company has reported 109.4 percent jump in its annual profit and declared dividend of 300 percent on its paid-up capital during the last fiscal.

Wapcos has secured new businesses in several countries recently, among these Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Taiwan, Yemen and Zimbabwe.
