CHENNAI: Business veterans and devotees across the spectrum paid homage to Dr A Sivasailam, chairman, Amalgamations group and president, Sringeri Bharathi Vidyashram, on Sunday here, who had passed away on January 12 following a cardiac arrest.
In 1961, he became TAFE’s general manager and subsequently its chairman and managing director. A well known philanthropist, he had supported many causes in education and healthcare secotrs. The list of awards he had received includes the prestigious Padma Shri, apart from the distinguished service award of the All India Management Association and the Lifetime Achievement award from SAE India.
He had a simple and easy disposition and cared for even the minute details, remembered T S Krishnamoorthy, former Chief Election Commissioner, who said that Sivasailam was involved in many cultural, spiritual and corporate activities.
Dr V R Gowrishankar, CEO and administrator, Sri Sringeri Math, said that Sivasailam always had a solution for the toughest of problems.” Always precise, he had great judgement ability, with a clear mind and a kind heart, he said, adding that he had utmost dedication for work and well being of those working with him. Justice Dr S Mohan, former Justice, Supreme Court, said that the philanthropist was a very non-complicated, confident and silent person.
