iGate filed a counter-complaint against their former CEO, Phaneesh Murthy stating that the firm suffered damages after the latter’s affair with his subordinate became public.

The company reportedly filed a complaint with the Alameda County Superior Court of California. Murthy had been unceremoniously  removed from his position as CEO after the company said that he had failed to disclose his relationship with the company’s head of investor relations, Araceli Roiz. There were other cases of sexual harassment against Murthy.

Once considered the ‘blue eyed boy’ of software major, Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy, Phaneesh had risen in the ranks and was serving as CEO at the Bangalore-based firm. But he was removed from his post after harassment charges levelled against him in 2003-04.

As CEO of iGate, Phaneesh was instrumental in the Patni acquisition as well. But in May 2013, the company announced his ouster over the affair. Murthy had filed charges against iGate stating that it was an ‘unfair termination’ and that the company had blocked access to vested stocks and other benefits. He slapped iGate with a multi million dollar lawsuit for  “improper” termination.
