She faced the camera for the first time when she was hardly three, started doing films at the age of 17 but is still waiting to get her due as an actress.
Aarti Chabria, the Farex baby of her time, talks about her love, life and work Hi Aarti. You said in an interview that you are looking for a turning point in your career. Would you call Shootout At Lokhandwala that turning point? Well, I think in a road there are many twists and turns.
Shootout At Lokhandwala was appreciated but I’m still waiting for that one big film, that would change things and take my career to new heights.
So, what’s stopping you? A lot of crap happens in the industry to get work, something which I can’t do.
Are you talking about the casting couch? Definitely. Anyone who is saying it does not exist is lying. I can be sweet to people but won’t go overboard to get films. I’m only hungry for good work, but not desperate.
And there is a big difference.
Is that the reason why we don’t get to see you in big banner films? It’s a Catch-22 situation. It’s not like everyone who does big-budget films is doing it.
I’d say, to each his own. But I want to go slow and wait for the right offers to come my way.
What’s next for you? My Bollywood projects include Daddy Cool and Toss.
What about Sandalwood? My first Kannada film, Aham Premasmi, was liked by many and I even got a Filmfare nomination for my role in Santha. Right now, I am not doing any Kannada film, but would love to work with Sandalwood actors like Ganesh, Upendra and Puneet Rajkumar.
There are some very good directors here as well.
You are performing in Bangalore on New Year’s Eve. Tell us about it? Yes, I’ll be celebrating New Year in Bangalore and am very excited. I hope to open my performance with a Kannada song so that people can relate to it well.
What do you think Bangalore? Oh, I totally love Bangalore! I mean I love the weather, the roads and everything else in Bangalore. I love shopping at MG Road and Commercial Street. I find the food here a little spicy but simply love the rasam. I’m looking forward to my performance here.
What about the love of your life? Now, that’s a mystery. Of course, I’’d like to get married and have a family but not only after a couple of years. And when I say a couple of years, I mean at least 4-5 years.
