BANGALORE: Transport Minister R Ashok inaugurated various developmental works estimated at Rs 10 crore in Padmanabha Nagar Ward on Sunday.

Ashok promised residents that work would be completed within 2 months and told the contractors to ensure quality. He also inaugurated work on asphalting of roads as well as remodelling of drains in the ward.

Ashok said that the narrow streets in Chikkagowdnapalya, Doddgowdnapalya and Kumaraswamy Layout would get cement roads. He emphasised that the government was undertaking these projects as a response to the long-standing demands of the residents and asked members of residents welfare groups to keep a tab of development work in their area and report if the quality of the works are substandard.

After receiving suggestions from residents, the Minister promised that the government would give priority to ensure basic civic amenities such as street lighting, better drainage as well as parks.

Ashok said that disposal of garbage had become an serious problem and the government was looking into converting waste into electricity.
