Here’s some good news for Kannada cine buffs. If they want to see the seven wonders of the world on namma Kannada silver screen, they just have to wait for a few months. NM Suresh of Excuse Me fame has embarked to prove his mettle in Sandalwood. Suresh, who had announced the producing of Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu a few months ago, started on his ambitious plan on Monday.

The film’s muhurat function was held at Sri Durga Parameswari Temple at Vidyaranyapura in Bangalore. Many prominent personalities attended the function.

Suresh, who debuted as a full-fledged producer with the film ‘Excuse Me’, has produced seven films. Two of them — Kaaranji and Gandhi Smiles — are yet to be released. It may not be an exaggeration to say that Suresh is one of the few producers who gained nothing, except name and fame, from producing Kannada films. All his films, including the Telugu film, were crashed at the box office. Yet, he wants to continue in film production. When asked what made him continue in film production, Suresh said, “I want to offer good films for Kannadigas. I want to prove that Kannada film producers are second to none in making big-budget films.” According to him, Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu is expected to cost between Rs 7-8 crore. Its shooting has been planned at the seven wonders. A 35-member unit (including artists and technicians) is expected to leave for countries such as Jordan, Mexico, Hong Kong and China for this purpose. Its shooting has also been planned at Agra for a few days. “I am not worrying about the cost of the production. My intention is to make a good film without compromising with its quality,” explained Suresh.

The other USP of the film is Kabir Lal, who is known as an excellent cinematographer.

It was learnt that the producer has procured all the equipment from Mumbai for Lal. “I began my career as an assistant camera man for Kannada film ‘Bhakta Prahallada’ in which late Rajkumar was hero. Now, I am very happy to work as an independent cinematographer for Shivarajkumar’s film. I am confident of doing justice to my assignment,” says Kabir Lal. The film Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu has Shivarajkumar, Sonal Chauhan, Chandrasekhar, Chitra Shenoy, Hari Priya, Tarun Sridhar, Kavya, Venkatesh Prasad, Dattanna as star cast. Shivarajkumar plays the character of a guide working for a travel agency. “It will be a neat film. A few years ago, the director told me about its script. It was interesting.

I also gave a few suggestions on the script,” Shivarajkumar said.

Sonal Chauhan of the Jannat fame debuts in Sandalwood in this film. It was said that Sonal was very impressed when the director narrated the script to her.
