BANGALORE: Upcoming heroine Sonu is a content girl. It is not that Sonu, who made her debut with Inthi Ninna Preethiya in 2007, was not happy all these three years.

But now she has an extra reason to smile. She is playing the lead and the only heroine of the forthcoming film Police Quarters, directed by AMR Ramesh of Cyanide fame.

Sonu is confident that after Police Quarters she will find a firmer ground in Gandhinagar.

“I am very happy to get the chance to act in this film. I am the only heroine in this film,” she says with a smile.

In her maiden film Inthi Ninna Preethiya, Bhavana was the other heroine along with Sonu. In her second film Gulaama, Biyanka Desai was the other heroine. As for Shivarajkumar- starrer Paramesha Paanwaala, Sonu had to be content the role of a sister. “I had to wait for three years to get a solo heroine role. I am giving my best shot in Police Quarters as it has provided me an opportunity to showcase my talent.

I am very grateful to director Ramesh selecting me for the heroine role,” Sonu says.

Police Quarters is being made in Tamil as Kavalar Kudiyiruppu. With this film, Sonu is set to be introduced to the Tamil film industry. “I could make the transition with ease as the director and most of the artistes are the same.

Though I am not familiar with Tamil, the director helped with that aspect,” says Sonu.

Sonu calls her experience while shooting for Police Quarters wonderful. “I learnt a lot about policemen during the shooting. Earlier, I used to think that policemen are rough but the shooting at their residential quarters made me realise that they are good human beings. I can never forget their love and affection during the shooting at the police quarters on Mysore Road. They used to offer me coffee and lunch. It was a memorable experience,” Sonu says.

She is convinced that the film will make an impact.

“I promise that fans will get 100 per cent of what they expect with this film. It is going to be a huge hit at the boxoffice not only in Karnataka but also Tamil Nadu,” she says.
