BANGALORE: Lokayukta police have arrested sub inspector Siddarangaswamy of the Yeshwantpur police station for offering a bribe to a complainant to depose in his favour in a departmental inquiry.

A release from the Lokayukta’s office said the sub inspector was caught red-handed while offering a bribe of Rs 30,000 to the complainant.

Sampath had filed a complaint with the Lokayukta that he was arrested and sent to jail on false charges by the Chikkajala police. He had also approached the police commissioner.

After a probe, the CCB submitted a report to the commissioner against the then police inspector Shriharsha and Siddarangaswamy, the PSI. To depose in their favour during enquiry, the accused offered the bribe to the complainant.

He asked him to come to a dhaba near Devanahalli-Doddaballapura Road to collect advance money.
