His latest film, Olave Jeevana Lekkaachaara, is no different from his earlier films.
Some of the sequences and characters in the film indicate that Nagathihalli has a deep dislike for the so-called leaders who preach but do not practice.
Through Rangayana Raghu, who plays the role of a hardcore follower of communism, the director has exposed the true face of opportunists in the society. The director has not even spared the TV channels and astrologers who advise politicians and others to perform yagna or homa at the drop of a hat.
The first-half of the film is a treat to watch. Rangayana Raghu’s one-liners, if the audience takes it with a pinch of salt are truly entertaining. Several lines on girls and their ability to shift loyalties will provide relief to the sexist lovelorn.
However, if the gullible youth take any of these lines seriously, there could be some trouble.

The story is about Balachandra alias Balu (Kitty) a college student from a poor family. As he does not even have money to pay the rent, he is offered shelter by a lecturer at his college, Guru(Rangayana Raghu). Balu falls in love with Rukmini (Radhika Pandit), the daughter of a businessman who feels neglected by her family. He enters Rukmini’s house as a paying guest.
But when he tells Guru about his desire to marry her, he advises Balu against it. Taking Guru’s advice seriously, Balu leaves Rukmini’s house and becomes a lecturer at a college. He not only wants to follow Guru’s philosophy but also preach it to others.
Meanwhile, Pavithra (Daisy Bopanna), a lecturer, joins the same college where Balu teaches.
He wants to exploit Pavithra but she advises him to mend his ways. How Balu meets Guru later on and how he realises his mistake is what the story is about.
Rangayana Raghu steals the show with his dialogue delivery.
Kitty has also acted well. Radhika Pandit and Daisy Bopanna add their two bits to the film.
Mano Murthy’s melodious music and cinematographer Krishna Kumar tight job behind the camera are added positives of this film.
It is worth a watch, but mind you, not all dialogues in the film are to be tried at home!
