BANGALORE: There is some good news round the corner for the students of Bangalore University (BU). Now, getting their markscard would become much easier, as the BU is planning to issue a single markscard which will be a compilation of the result of all the exams held for a degree course.

Bangalore University is developing a software to make the transition from a multiple markscard to a single markscard scheme possible. The decision in this regard was taken in an academic council meeting on Monday.

In order to prevent the forging of the markscards, the university will now issue markscards with barcodes that cannot be manipulated.

Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhudev said that there is a common complaint that the varsity does not issue markscard on time.

“One of the reason for the delay is the tedious process of getting signatures from various officials and also the college principals.

But from now on, only the Registrar (evaluation) will sign. The principal’s signature will be optional,” he said.

These markscards will be sent directly to get printed from the Registrar’s office.

EXAM FEE DURING ADMISSION

The Academic Council has decided to collect fees during the admission period, instead of collecting it at the end of a semester.

This would be done to avoid last minute confusion. It was also decided to collect convocation fee during the last two semesters.

RESEARCH COUNCIL

The university is setting up a Research Council to encourage the younger teachers of BU. The director of the Institute of Social and Economic Change will be the Chairman of the Council, with three senior professors as members.

The BU has allotted Rs 1 crore for research activities and Rs 1 crore for infrastructure development.
