BANGALORE: Bollywood actor of Australian origin, Bob Christo who played villain's role in many films died at a city hospital on Sunday.
Christo died of a massive heart attack accompanied with subsequent cardiac rupture. He was 72.
According to Dr C N Manjunath, director of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Christo was brought to the hospital early morning on Saturday with complaints of chest pain and a massive heart attack. "We had conducted an emergency Angiogram that revealed a 90 per cent block in his left anterior descending artery. Angioplasty and stenting procedure was also done," said Dr Manjunath. "Subsequently, he suffered a cardiac rupture and underwent an open heart surgery. His heart was weak and post surgery, his condition was critical," he said.
A great fan of Parveen Babi, Christo first came to Mumbai to meet the Indian actress.
He was so fascinated by Bollywood that he gave a thought of acting in it. He then got his first break as a villain in Abdullah. He appeared in over 200 movies like Mr Bond, Roop ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Mr India and Ram aur Shyam.
Before coming to India, Christo was into theatre and had acted in a German movie as well.
Christo moved to Bangalore a couple of years ago for business. His family lived in Mumbai.
"He was working on his autobiography and was a Yoga trainer for sometime. Of late, he was working with me and was making public appearance for my chain of coffee shops," said Khaleem Pasha, Christo's business partner and an actor.
Pasha said Christo's funeral will be held at Hebbal at 1.00 pm on Monday.
"His wife and relatives have arrived. Some Bollywood actors will reach by morning flight, so we will wait for them," Pasha added.
