BANGALORE: After a month of dilly-dallying, Bellary Rural MLA B Sriramulu’s resignation was finally accepted on Thursday. Speaker KG Bopaiah accepted the resignation.Sriramulu had submitted his resignation to the Speaker on September 4 after he and his close associates Bellary Reddy brothers were denied Cabinet berths owing to their indictment in the Lokayukta report on illegal mining.
Though BJP state leaders had tried their best to persuade Sriramulu to reconsider his decision to resign, he did not relent and remained firm on his demand for a ministerial berth. This forced the BJP leadership to give up their efforts to persuade him.
