BANGALORE: It’s time for us to shy away from our profession and many should be ashamed to call themselves politicians, bemoaned leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Siddaramaiah.
Speaking at a book launch on Tuesday, he said, “Today, everyone has become a part of corruption and when somebody questions, the other party asks us to keep our mouth shut, indicating that this is nothing new. It is a dirty situation, even if I keep my hand in pockets it is noticed. “We need good people to come into politics, but at the same time, without casting identity and money no one can enter politics. It is a challenge,” he added. He noted that power and authority should be in the hands of people who have vision for development. Speaking on the literary aspects, Siddaramaiah said good literature creates awareness among people, and currently, we are heading towards it. “Society should be dynamic. For that, we need literature which is highly effective and evokes rebel spirit.” Five books: Ishanya Bharathada Kavigalu, Hasuvina haadu-paadu, Chaduranga, Nelamoola Dani under the banner ‘Prejas Prakashana’ were released.
Prof Marulusiddappa, S G Siddharamaiah, and Banjagere Jayaprakash were present at the event.
