BANGALORE: Arena Animation Academy celebrated its 16th anniversary titled Animation Habba in the city recently. Over 800 budding animators participated in the day-long-programme. Students competed in 16 categories like 2D, 3D, web designing, graphic designing, logo creation, stop motion animation and others. Shelley Page, head of International Outreach, Dream Works animation and Narendra Reddy, managing director of Dreamworks Dedicated Unit, India were also present at the event.
Addressing the gathering, Shelley Page said, “The growing domestic market is also spurring animation industry. Many co-production treaties have been signed by leading Indian animation and gaming players like DQ Entertainment, Technicolor, GreenGold, Rhythm and Hues and others with studios and producers in Canada, Britain, America and many parts of Asia.”
“The year 2012 is expected to witness the restoration of India’s IT growth in the gaming and animation businesses. The revolutionary winds that stormed the mature game and movie markets of the US, Europe and Japan over three decades will take place in India in a much shorter time,” said B S Indira Gupta, centre head of Arena Animation, Jayanagar.
