BANGALORE: The 29th national conference of Kannada speaking people will be held in New Delhi on April 7 and 8. Convener of the conference, M B Samaga said it is being organised by ‘Dehali Kannadiga’, a Kannada monthly magazine published from New Delhi. Former Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka State Women’s University Dr Geetha Bali will inaugurate the conference. The conference includes a seminar on Kannada language, literature and culture, poets’ meets, women festival, music, dance, other cultural programmes and a book exhibition. Two thousand delegates from all over the country, including writers, poets, artists, professors, academicians and representatives of Kannada associations are expected to take part in the conference.
The main purpose of the conference is to seek more recognition to Kannada culture at the national and international level.
Manu Baligar, Commissioner, Department of Kannada and Culture, Dr P D Shenoy, former Secretary, Government of India, Dr Shivamogga Subbanna, national award winning singer, Bykere Nagesh and Additional Special Representative of Karnataka in New Delhi will inaugurate different programmes of the conference.
Prof B Hanumaiah, a scholar, Vice-Chancellor, Baba Saheb Ambedkar University, will release the souvenir. Dr S Indumathi, Vice-Chancellor, Davanagere University will preside over the programme. Dr K Narayana Gowda, Vice-Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, will inaugurate the books and art exhibition.
