The question papers of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) examination conducted on Wednesday were leaked. Based on a complaint, Lokayukta police, along with the Rajajinagar police, conducted raids at few places in the city and seized the question papers.
The ITI examinations are conducted under the supervision of Department of Employment and Training.
T Siddappa, a junior technical officer of Mount Mallari ITI located at Peenya Stage II was arrested and photocopies of question papers for the exam scheduled on Wednesday afternoon were also seized.
In the joint operation led by Lokayukta police officer Puttaswamy, the officials raided rented buildings in Kempegowdanagar and Rajagopalnagar where 14 ITI students were found to be in possession of the question paper and were preparing answers for the afternoon’s exam.
A criminal case was registered under various sections of IPC and the Karnataka Examination Act.
Commissioner of the Department of Employment and Training, Niranjan K R, said, “We are yet to get information from the police about the question paper leak. Once we receive it, we will see if the students have to be debarred and if a re-examination is necessary.”
Constable Held In Bribery Case
The Lokayukta police on Tuesday trapped police constable Vishwanath, attached to Subramanyapura police station, in a bribery case. The complainant, H Nanjundaiah of Bhuvaneshwarinagar in Uttarahalli, had alleged that Vishwanath had demanded `1 lakh as bribe to settle a land dispute, which he later negotiated for Rs 25,000.
