St Christopher’s college of education celebrates 90 years

The college was started by missionary Kathleen Nora Brockway from London in in 4th July, 1923.

St Christopher’s College of Education at Vepery celebrated its 90th anniversary with pride. In the 2012-13 academic session, the college held various activities and competitions including an International Conference on 'Towards Excellence in Education', Talents Day, Extempore Elocution Competition, cultural fests and debates.

All these marked and enhanced knowledge in the important arena of education.

The culmination of the celebration was the thanksgiving service at the college chapel on Thursday. On this day, back in 1923, the college was started by missionary Kathleen Nora Brockway from London. The college took up two building projects – extension of the women’s hostel and an indoor sports training facility with the UGC XI plan grant. The extension of the women’s hostel was dedicated by Rev John S Sadananda, bishop, CSI Karnataka, Southern Diocese and Master, Council of Serampore College.

On this occasion, the college released Offero — the college magazine, a special edition of the year; Christophers at a Glance — a newsletter, Beyond Horizon — a research journal of St Christopher’s College of Education, and a CD of hymns.

Under the leadership and meticulous guidance of the present Principal Dr Rachel Jebaraj, the college and its faculty march ahead holding their head high to bring glory to the institution and nation by creating quality teachers.
