BANGALORE: With online transactions increasing and cyber criminals employing new tactics, it is important that the police understand technology, said Police Commissioner M N Reddi.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a two-day workshop on cyber crime organised by HDFC Bank and the police department. “People with debit and credit cards could be victims of fraud and the biggest challenge is to track down the criminals,” he said and advised people against responding to emails informing them of winning lotteries. The programme focuses on enhancing the knowledge of cyber crime among over 100 participating sub-inspectors. They will be taught various techniques to deal with cyber-related economic offences.

‘Trust Police Force’

Addressing students of St Joseph’s High School on Thursday, Commissioner M N Reddi asked them to have faith in the police system.

When he asked the students to tell him what they did not like about the police, they said corruption. Stating that corruption was part of all systems, he said efforts are on to curb the menace in the department.
