BENGALURU: Vandana Jain, who accused cricketer Amit Mishra of assaulting her in a hotel in Bengaluru, on Monday said she was in a relationship with the ace spinner for more than three years.

She even showed pictures purportedly showing them together to prove this. The Ashoknagar police have already filed a chargesheet against Mishra.

“People were talking without knowing the truth. I am revealing the pictures because I don’t want people to think that I am doing this for money. I had a relationship with him and from my end I was committed to him,” she told Express and alleged that the cricketer “betrayed” her.

When contacted, Mishra told Express her claims were not true. “She is doing this for publicity. Don’t want to discuss further,” he said.

Vandana said the hotel staff knew she was Mishra’s girlfriend and that is why they gave her the key to his room. “I am a victim and not Amit. He played with my emotions,” Vandana said.

“Being his girlfriend, I had the right to enter his room. But he did not have any right to hit me. I felt betrayed and I am not able to explain what I am going through. We had a relationship for three-and-a-half years and I can prove it,” she said.

“I don’t want to end the relationship even now. If he comes back to me, I will be the happiest person. I am having sleepless nights now. I never thought that it could take such an ugly turn,” she added.

After she filed a complaint, police summoned Mishra for questioning. The cricketer appeared before them on October 27 and he was formally arrested and released on bail. He was interrogated for three hours.
