BENGALURU: As many as 22 schemes are available for the differently-abled in Karnataka and the state has been adjudged the best for implementing these schemes, said MR Seetharam, minister for planning, statistics and science, here, on the occasion of World Disability Day in Kanteerava Stadium. About 10 NGOs, five special teachers and 10 achievers were given state level awards.

“The award to the state by the union government’s social justice department will be awarded to Karnataka’s Women and Child Development Minister Umashree in Delhi,” he said. The state announced the distribution of talking laptops and braille machines. A subsidy of `1 lakh was announced to the differently-abled, who are taking up Karnataka Administrative Service and Indian Administrative Service. Parents of differently-abled children were also felicitated.
