2005 terror attack at IISc: Five sentenced to life, one released

The Karnataka HC upheld the conviction of five accused in terror attack at the Indian Institute of Science campus.

BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday upheld the conviction of five accused in terror attack at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus in the city in 2005. The accused were sentenced to life imprisonment  for having links with banned terror outfit LeT and conspiracy to waging war against the State.

The convicted are Mohammed Raza ur Rehman, Afzal Pasha, Miruddin Khan, Nizam Iddini and Munna.

However, the court released the third accused Mehaboob Ibrahim since he has already completed the 7 years imprisonment.

The division bench of Justice Mohan Shanthan Gowdar and Justice K N Phanindra pronounced the judgment.

A sessions court in city convicted the six accused and acquitted one accused out of total seven accused in 2005.
