BENGALURU: A 25-year-old Bhutan national, working as a beautician in the city, was gang-raped by three acquaintances after they invited her over to their house. The incident comes two weeks after the abduction and molestation bid of a Manipuri woman outside her PG accommodation was reported.
The gangrape, which took place in the early hours of Monday, came to light on Wednesday. According to police, the complainant and the accused, who knew each other, had attended the birthday party of a common friend on Sunday night.
The survivor has stated in her complaint that the birthday party took place in Hebbugodi. She was looking for a place to buy cigarettes after the party when one of the accused offered to take her to a place that was open 24/7. From there, he invited her home. Since she knew him and his room mates well, she did not suspect any foul play. However, the three of them later raped her. The accused are Mehboob alias Babu, Khaled and Mukhtiar. All three of them are 22 years old and have been friends from back home in Neelam Bazaar, Karimganj district in Assam.
The Bhutanese woman, who was gangraped on Monday by three youths, took some time to recover from the shock and did not immediately approach the police fearing repercussions.
However, she made up her mind to file a complaint the following morning. The medical report has confirmed the assault, police officials told Express. The survivor, a resident of Hebbugodi, had come to the city only six months ago to work as a beautician in a salon in Electronics City. She was living with her friends in a flat. Electronics City police have registered a case.
The gangrape comes just weeks after the abduction of a Manipuri woman outside her PG accommodation was reported. The incident was captured on CCTV. In February this year, a Tanzanian woman was allegedly beaten up by a mob after a car driven by an African killed a woman in an accident.
