BENGALURU: The HSR Layout police on Sunday arrested the Uber cab driver, accused of abducting 15-year-old Siddharth (name changed) on Friday evening.

The man has been identified as Tabrez, a native of Tamil Nadu. He settled here a decade ago.

Police said, “Investigation has revealed that the boy had taken a share ride and the trip charge was `130. The boy had given the driver Rs.200 and got back the change of Rs.70. There is something fishy in the entire incident. There was no demand for ransom nor assault or threats to the boy. If it was for ransom, the driver would have taken the boy away.”

On Friday, the boy had booked a cab, around 6.30 pm to return to his house in Sarjapur from HSR Layout. But the driver allegedly headed towards Anekal. The boy was dropped off near a hotel in Whitefield around 12.30am.
