BENGALURU: There is trouble brewing for at least one syndicate member of Bangalore University for video-recording a recent syndicate meeting and circulating it to media houses.

As per the university authorities, one of the syndicate members video-recorded the syndicate meeting held in July and circulated it to select visual media channels. This was done despite a clear direction from the Governor, who is also the Chancellor, not to go to the media unless the syndicate proceedings and academic meetings were recorded and put in public domain.

The Chancellor has sought an explanation from the university authorities about the same. The university, on the other hand, has decided to file a complaint with the cyber crime police wing. A resolution was passed in this regard in the last syndicate meeting.

A copy of the proceedings, available with Express, reads that the deliberations of the syndicate shall be kept confidential till the proceedings are finalised, circulated amongst the members and published on the university websites. The VC will write to the government requesting a probe by cyber crime police.
A senior official of BU said, “We have requested all the members not to discuss the syndicate meetings outside.”
