Two new Karnataka High Court judges swears in

Two judges from the district cadre, including N K Sudhindra Rao, who is known for sending many high-profile politicians to jail, were sworn in as Additional Judges of the High Court here on Tuesday.

BENGALURU: Two judges from the district cadre, including N K Sudhindra Rao, who is known for sending many high-profile politicians to jail, were sworn in as Additional Judges of the High Court here on Tuesday.

Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee administered the oath to both the judges - Sudhindra Rao and Dr H B Prabhakara Sastry.  On Saturday, President Pranab Mukherjee had appointed the duo as additional judges of Karnataka High Court for a period of two years. With this, the strength of the judges in the High Court has increased to 32. The sanctioned strength is 62.

Rao was serving as the Registrar (Recruitment) of the High Court, whereas Sastry was the Presiding Officer of the Karnataka State Transport Appellate Authority.

When Rao was Special Judge of the Lokayukta Court, he had sent former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, former ministers Katta Subramanya Naidu, S N Krishnaiah Shetty and others to judicial custody over illegal denotification of land acquired by BDA.
