BENGALURU: B Thimmegowda, Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka Rural Development University and former V-C of Bangalore University, will face judicial inquiry over irregularities in promotions.

The state government has constituted a committee, headed by retired judge B Padmaraj, to inquire into the allegations against Thimmegowda.  The government ordered the inquiry following complaints of irregularities in promotions under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) at the University Visvesvara College of Engineering (UVCE). Meanwhile, the social welfare department stated that inquiry report should be submitted in a month. The department also said the inquiry cost has to be borne by Bangalore University.

The committee has also been instructed to inquire into allegations of irregularities in constructions of buildings at Jnana Bharati and Kolar PG centre.
