BENGALURU: A 40-year-old doctor committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of his residence at Sobha Apartment. The deceased has been identified as Ashok Raj Koul, a plastic surgeon at Narayana Hrudayalaya on Hosur road.

Police said the doctor returned home at around 12.30 pm and later jumped from the balcony of his apartment at 2 pm. He has not left any suicide note and the police are inquiring into the possibility of family issues being the reason for suicide.

"We have not yet ruled out a case of accidental death, but so far we have not found anything that could be construed as a security lapse," an officer investigating the case said.

A spokesperson from Narayana Hrudayalaya told Express that Koul had come to work and had conducted two operations. "He left the hospital at around 11.30 am. He was working at the hospital since 2003 and had a good name. We are not aware of any personal issues and he never shared it with any of the staff," the spokesperson said. HSR Layout police are conducting further investigations.
