BENGALURU: Not just the college, but also the hostel where over 200 students are staying is not very safe for girls. Often, the students have complained of an unknown person lurking on the hostel premises. On Monday, a CCTV footage of an unknown person roaming in the hostel backyard was also shown to the members of the expert committee on Preventing Sexual Violence against Women and Children.

Ugrappa said, “CCTV footage showed a naked man roaming on the hostel premises at night. I have already brought this to the notice of the Police Commissioner.”

According to students, they have approached cops several times in the past over similar incidents but in vain.

“On many days, our clothes go missing from the campus. Anyone can enter our campus from Race Course side,” a student told Express. “We don’t venture out after 8 pm even in case of an emergency,” said another girl.

When contacted, principal Shantha Kumari said, “Such incidents started occurring one year back. Several complaints were made to cops, but nothing happened.”

Some girls were even forced to leave the hostel because of such incidents.
