BANGALORU: Bengalure Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) announced that staff employed to check tickets would be equipped with body cameras.
It has been done to resolve disputes between conductors and passengers without tickets. Transport Minister H M Revanna and BMTC Managing Director V Ponnuraj announced the decision at a press conference held on Friday.
They also announced that display boards providing information of bus routes would be put up at 6,000 bus shelters across the city in three phases. Such boards have already been set up at 84 major terminals as part of the first phase.
In the second phase, 250 boards would be put up and in the third phase, boards would be set up at 6,000 bus shelters. In addition, 800 scrapped buses that are yet to be sold to scrap dealers and lying in depots will be sent to two locations.
