BENGALURU: Considering the recent reports about students getting addicted to the Blue Whale Challenge online game in the state, the Department of Pre-University Education has asked all its principals to organise awareness campaigns involving parents.
“We have issued this circular following the recent media reports where some PU college students were reportedly found playing the game. The authorities have been asked to create maximum awareness about the same,” said an official of the PUE department. They asked parents and teachers to look out for students
behaving in a peculiar manner. Authorities have also been asked to get the help of the local police to provide publicity for the awareness campaign.
Guidelines for teachers
Must watch for any injuries/marks on students’ bodies
Is the child acting strange, watching horror movies?
Does the child prefer to spend time alone?
Is the child using mobile phone late at night?
What is the game?
Blue Whale game is played online. Administrators assign tasks to “players” over a 50-day period. As the final challenge, player is asked to commit suicide.
