BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the police department to submit a report detailing the total number of cases registered from January 2015 to June 2018 regarding missing boys and girls across the state.Expressing concern over the plight of those affected by human trafficking, the dangers faced by the migrant population, and the girls who run the risk of being sold into the flesh trade, a division bench of Justice Raghvendra S Chauhan and Justice H T Narendra Prasad issued this direction, before adjourning the further hearing to August 13.

The court was hearing a suo motu case registered in response to a letter addressed to the Registrar General of the High Court by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority. The Legal Services Authority had written to the Registrar General after it received a letter from the Karnataka State Protection for Child Rights with regard to a complaint by Raghuveer Rathod, a migrant labourer from Madhya Pradesh.
The complaint was about his missing son for which a case had been filed at the Amruthahalli police station limits in June 2017.

According to the report submitted to the court after the investigation, Ramlakhan, son of Rathod, went missing after he left with another boy who is also missing.
