Special purpose vehicle for suburban rail project within a month says H D Kumaraswamy

Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be set up within a month to take up the suburban railway project in Bengaluru.

BENGALURU: Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be set up within a month to take up the suburban railway project in Bengaluru. The CM had recently convened a meeting with Union government railway officials.

He said SPV will involve railway department officials to oversee the project which will see the Railways with a 49 per cent share and the state government with a 51 percent share. As on date, `350 crore has been approved and `100 crore has been deposited with the railways. This project will enable utilisation of the existing 444 km railway track. There will be some extension, automatic signalling and electrification which would be taken up to complete the project.
