Talking about it, Prof  T D Kemparaju, vice chancellor of Bengaluru North university said, “Many farmers from the state who had taken agriculture loans, have committed suicide as they were unable to clear them. Some farmers committed suicide due to drought too. Being a university, we decided to do something for the children of such farmers, and took a decision to educate them free of cost.”

Meanwhile, the university has also decided to support children of martyrs. There are several instances where these children struggle to continue their education. Considering this, the university has decided to waive off the fee for them during higher education at our university,” mentioned Kemparaju. However, along with post-graduate courses, the university has decided to start diploma courses too at the affiliated colleges.

To set up a full-fledged campus, the university has sought financial assistance of `100 crore from the state government. Currently, the government has given `20 crore to the university and handed over 110.25 acres of land at Kolar district.
