Bengaluru City Corporations told to take up preparation works ahead of monsoon season

The corporations have to desilt and clean all roadside drains on priority by the end of April.

BENGALURU: Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao has instructed the five city corporations to take up all necessary work in preparation for the monsoon season. In a circular, Rao stressed on desilting of drains, especially those along major roads.

“It is essential to implement precautionary measures for disaster management to prevent any inconvenience or flooding during the pre-monsoon and monsoon periods.

Accordingly, all five city corporations and departments have been directed to take preventive steps,” he said, adding that 49 areas were identified as flood-prone in 2025, and officials must review the measures taken and ensure that permanent solutions have been implemented to prevent flooding.

In areas where permanent solutions have not yet been provided, the chief engineers of the respective city corporations must coordinate with the chief engineer of the GBA Project Implementation Unit and take measures to prevent flooding.
