Bhubaneswar, Cuttack experience cold wave and chilliest night of this winter

BHUBANESWAR: Mercury plummeted below 14 degrees Celsius in the Twin City for the first time this winter. The capital city shivered at 13 degrees Celsius, below normal by 6.4 degrees Celsius, and Cuttack recorded 13.6 degrees Celsius, below normal by 5.1 degrees Celsius.

The regional met office said the minimum night temperature was below normal by 5 degrees Celsius to 7 degrees Celsius at a few places in the north interior and coastal districts.

G Udayagiri was the coldest at 5.8 deg C on the day. Angul recorded 10.6 deg C, below normal by 7.2 deg C, Jharsuguda 10.6 (-6.5 deg C), Paradip 15.8 deg C (-5.2 deg C), Gopalpur 15.7 deg C (-4.9 deg C), Keonjhar 10.8 deg C (-4.9 deg C), Titilagarh 14.2 deg C (-4.5 deg C), Phulbani 9 deg C (-4.2 deg C) and Baripada 13.8 deg C (-4 deg C). On Sunday morning, dense fog occurred at one or two places in Sundargarh district and shallow fog prevailed at isolated places in Kalahandi district. Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Manorama Mohanty said, the minimum night temperature is expected to gradually rise from Tuesday onwards.
