BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has extended the deadline for submission of planning approval and other statutory documents by property owners using residential buildings for commercial purposes, to four weeks from existing two weeks.
The civic body had earlier informed that it was offering a 15-day window to those issued notice for allegedly using their residential property for commercial purpose without obtaining necessary approval. However, it has now stated that the documents can be submitted online on BMC portal or Bhubaneswar One portal within four weeks.
The corporation served notices on the basis of the directions of the SC for taking immediate action against unauthorised constructions, deviations from sanctioned building plans and illegal conversion of residential buildings for commercial use. The list of properties served notices includes a number of prominent government and private institutions, educational establishments, hospitals, hotels and private companies. The online facility has been made available to property owners from Saturday, allowing them to upload approved building plans, planning permissions, occupancy or completion certificates and other supporting documents.
The civic body has also urged all affected property owners to cooperate with the verification process and complete document submission within the stipulated period as the documents will also be helpful in any future verification.
