Songs written by MK for 1952 movie remixed

CHENNAI: The DMK’s Adi Dravidar welfare on Sunday organised an event to release an album containing remixed songs from the 1952 Tamil movie Parasakthi. The event was held as part of the ongoing birthday celebration of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who turned 86 years old on June 3

The movie’s script and song lyrics were written by Karunanidhi. To commemorate the movie, which critically examined social issues of the time and eventually became an important part of the Dravidian movement, production house AVM, which had originally produced the movie, commissioned an album of remixed songs from the movie.

Live dance performances set to the songs in the album, were choreographed by movie dance master Kala. The Chief minister arrived for the event just in time for the dance performances, set to the songs in the album, which were choreographed by acclaimed movie dance master Kala and stayed at the venue till 9:15 pm.

State information minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi added to the entertainment by singing a few songs. A thappattam performance by Dindigul S P Mani and group and a thavil performance by Padmashri A K Palanivel and group were other highlights of the event. Deputy chief minister M K Stalin, State ministers Durai Murugan, K P P Samy and Tamilarasi were present.
