CHENNAI: An arrest warrant has been issued against Comedy Time star Chittibabu in a cheque bouncing case. The November 19 order came in response to a case filed under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act by financier S Anand in the XVII Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet.
Anand, a resident of Basudev Street in Thyagaraya Nagar, told Express that he had loaned Rs 2.5 lakh at two per cent interest to the actor about two years ago. “Chittibabu was dabbling in real estate and he borrowed the money promising to return it to me in three months,” he said. When Anand demanded his money back, the Dhool star reportedly told him that his situation was not good and he could not repay the loan amount and interest. Anand subsequently filed a case in the Saidapet court, which issued a bailable arrest warrant, directing the Choolaimedu police to produce the actor before it on November 30.
