CHENNAI: Workers and leaders of the Desiya Murpoku Tholir Sangha Peravai, the trade union (TU) wing of DMDK, on Tuesday shared a platform with Anna Thozhilalar Peravai, the TU wing of the AIADMK, for the forthcoming transport corporations’ union elections.
According to a court order, the union with the highest number of votes would be recognised by the transport corporations.
The DMDK had already made it clear that it would support the AIADMK’s union as part of its efforts to fight their common enemy, Labour Progressive Front, which is the DMK’s TU wing.
The rare exhibition of support is viewed with interest as DMDK chief Vijayakanth had announced at a public function recently that his party was ready to enter into an electoral alliance with any party except the DMK.
